Sonja D. Winter, PhD
Assistant Professor of Statistics, Measurement, and Evaluation in Education
Sonja Winter received a BSc and MSc in Developmental Psychology from Utrecht University in 2011 and 2013, and a PhD in Quantitative Methods, Measurement, and Statistics from the University of California, Merced in 2021. From 2021 to 2023 she worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Missouri Prevention Science Institute at the University of Missouri. In 2023 she started her position as assistant professor in the Statistics, Measurement, and Evaluation in Education program at the College of Education and Human Development of the University of Missouri. Her research focuses on the development and application of Bayesian approaches to the analysis of educational and developmental psychological data, with a specific emphasis on the role of priors.
When not working, Sonja enjoys baking and bird watching.
Tive Khumalo, MA
Graduate Student, Statistics, Measurement, and Evaluation in Education
Tive Khumalo received a BSc in Physics and Mathematics from the University of Eswatini (formerly Swaziland) in 2019. In 2024, he earned his Master’s in Statistics, Measurement, and Evaluation in Education from the University of Missouri, Columbia through the Fulbright program. Tive is currently a first-year PhD student in Statistics, Measurement, and Evaluation in Education at the University of Missouri, Columbia. His research focuses on model evaluation methods, particularly issues related to cross-validation methods in model selection and prediction, fitting propensity, and Bayesian methods.
During his spare time, he enjoys playing PC games and watching anime.
